Bathroom Renovation

A renovation goes further than swapping the suite. The room is taken back to bare walls and floor, and the layout can change: the bath can make way for a large shower, the toilet can move to another wall, or a basin can be added on a vanity unit. Graham has spent 35 years as a plumber and bathroom fitter, and he plans the new room with you before anything is removed.

How a renovation runs

After the strip-out, Graham checks the floor and walls. Rotten boards are replaced, uneven floors are levelled and walls are boarded where the old plaster will not take tiles. Supply and waste pipes are then rerouted to the new positions, with enough fall on every waste for it to drain properly. Around the bath and shower the walls are tanked, then the tiling goes on, the suite is fitted and connected, and every joint is tested before the room is handed back.

How long it takes

Most renovations take between five and ten working days. A room that keeps its layout sits at the shorter end; moving the toilet, replacing a floor or converting to a walk-in shower adds time. Graham gives you the number of days with the quote, so you can plan around having the bathroom out of action.

What the price depends on

The size of the room, how much of the layout moves, the state of the floor and walls once they are exposed, and the amount of tiling all affect the cost. You can buy your own suite and tiles, or Graham can source them for you.
